The Haven Children’s home is a care home within the wider organisation of Skylark Care Solutions Ltd. It offers a high quality living environment for children and young people offering a child centred approach which is tailored to meet their individual needs.
At The Haven Children’s home we believe in providing children and young people with skilled support from committed staff in a safe, caring and ordered environment. We have a responsibility to ensure that children and young people are protected from abuse and neglect. Our dedicated team ensure that a young person’s emotional needs and well-being are always at the center of our practice. We know from experience that a nurturing and accepting environment will support young people to stabilise, to deal with past traumas and to develop the skills to live healthy happy lives. Our paramount duty to a young person entering our care is to support them to feel safe.
Promoting quality services which are based on agreed standards and meet legal and good practice requirements. A commitment to ensure that staff working with children and young people will do what they say they do.
Recognition that young people are children first; all encouragement will be given to realise their full potential and to help children and young people achieve their hopes and ambitions and to develop their abilities in their daily lives.

Treating all personal information in confidence
1. Assisting children/young people to explore their own issues and experiences and work through any emotions and feelings which may become a barrier to a stable placement and future accommodation.
2. Working closely with families or substitute families to ensure that when children/young people return home or go to other suitable placements, adequate support via a transition plan is given to both the young person and their family to ensure success.
3. Providing appropriate levels of support that recognise, value and encourage children/young people to maintain personal skills and competencies and promote their confidence and self-esteem.
4. Provide age-appropriate independent living programmes to assist young people to be able to develop the necessary skills to enable them to, if appropriate, live independently.
5. Providing a comprehensive package of educational support to promote the best possible outcomes for children/young people within their educational setting.
6. Offering children/young people therapeutically informed interventions to assist them in achieving personal well being.

The Haven Children’s home has a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled staff team dedicated to providing an excellent experience for children during their stay. There is a good ratio of staff to children/young people so that individual attention can be given to each child/young person whilst they are living at The Haven.
The Haven Children’s home is a semi-detached home in the quiet new development of Glan Lyn in the Llanwern area of Newport, South Wales. The majority of the housing is owner occupied.
The home is well appointed and offers a total of 4 bedrooms for young people.
The ground floor comprises of an entrance hallway, single toilet/ cloakroom, lounge room and fully fitted kitchen diner. The ground floors are tiled.
